DESCRIPTION Do you live in Oklahoma or Tennessee, where there is no ocean? If you do live there, have you ever heard of a starfish? You haven't! Well, I could either 1. Call you crazy, or 2. Just tell you about starfish. I'll go with #2, I guess. Starfish have bony, calcified skin and they are shaped like a star. They may be called starfish, but they are not actually fish. Starfish can measure from 1 inch to 3 feet, almost the size of a newborn baby! They can weigh up to 11 pounds. The body is divided into 3 layers , external,(outside), intermediate,(middle), and internal, (inside). The external layer covers the whole body and is the most delicate layer of the starfish.
